WP 4 Respiratory health assessment in the school study
Participating partners: THL, UU, CREAL
The aim of WP4 is to perform school-based prevalence surveys on respiratory health in relation to the school environment in pupils from 48 schools in three countries across Europe.
In the 12 moisture damaged and 6 non-moisture damaged schools, which have been chosen for the longitudinal study, lung function measurements will be performed in 4,000 selected pupils in order to identify a study population of asthmatic children. Longitudinal respiratory health assessment (3 repeats within a 1-year period) in 540 asthmatic pupils and in 180 teachers will be done. The environmental exposures in the schools are introduced in WP 3.
The long-term respiratory health effects of exposure to moisture, microbial components and volatile chemicals in the school indoor environment in asthmatic children and teachers will be studied.
